As the 2023-2024 academic year begins, the School of Film, Media & Theatre will welcome our latest cohort of students to our classrooms. Many will be following in the footsteps of FMT alum Heather Mason who has proven that for film students, the possibilities are endless.
At GSU, we know that college students are not always fresh out of high school. Many of our students, enroll in our programs or return to school to complete their degrees later on in life. This was the case for 2023 FMT graduate Nancy Riley-James. Her story is one of perseverance and determination, and she is inspiring others with her persistence to finish college.
The School of Film, Media & Theatre finished off the year with its annual showcase, the Georgia State University Student Film Festival (GSUSFF). The festival celebrates student films written, produced, and directed by current film and media majors and M.A. production students of the 2022-2023 academic year. As we reflect on our 2022-23 graduates, we brim with anticipation as we await the accomplishments of our freshly minted Film, Media & Theatre degree recipients.
One of these students is FMT’s own Robert Williams. Williams has been a Panther for two years and has taken his passion for film to great heights.
Across the world, Georgia State University School of Film, Media & Theatre Alumni are sharing their talents and producing art for all to see. This is certainly true of GSU alumna and author Quatoyiah Murry. Since graduating from Georgia State University, Murry has composed many books and traveled across the world showing her talents.
Georgia State University Ph.D students Haifa “Pye” Siregar and Anthony Dannar have been awarded the Provost’s Dissertation Fellowship for 2022. The fellowship supports doctoral students from across the university as they complete their dissertations and is awarded to candidates with outstanding scholarly accomplishments.
