CHANGING THE FACE OF MEDIA
The School of Film, Media & Theatre is part of the the College of the Arts and committed to mainstream and alternative voices in film, television, new media and live theatre.
Explore Our Programs
Many Film and Media students are looking to enter the rapidly growing film, television, and new media industries in Georgia and around the world, and our curriculum is designed to offer opportunities in hands-on mediamaking instruction while also grounding students in a solid understanding of media history, industry, technology, culture, theory, and criticism.
Like Film and Media majors, Theatre students are following their passion, which is something that all professional employers desire. The School is committed to live performance as a centerpiece of our culture, and we recognize that most media begin with capturing performance.
What Makes US Unique
Get results on both sides of the camera. Georgia State hosted a one-day workshop bringing together directors and actors for an open and honest dialogue and hands-on workshop. In this one-day workshop, actors and directors worked together and discussed with one another ways in which they could work to support each other and find success in the casting process.
Participants practiced in an open dialogue hosted by Georgia State faculty with guest directors answering all the questions and things students had really wanted to ask about the casting process. Guest Panelist include Andi Behring, Trevor Juarez, Susan G Reid, and Bajo Sonubi.
Food Justice
More than two million Georgians*, including 500,000 children, live in communities that lack access to affordable healthy foods, vegetables and fruits. Raising awareness on food deserts — geographical areas where healthy food is inaccessible or expensive — the Atlanta City Theatre and the School of Film, Media & Theatre premiere “Food Justice” on February 17 at Dahlberg Hall Theatre.
The School of Film, Media & Theatre in Georgia State’s College of the Arts is now offering its first Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) degree in Digital Filmmaking* with a Filmmaking concentration.
