On Thursday, January 27th, film buffs, faculty and students attended the World Premiere of Professor Heath Franklin’s film “Black Balsam” which was hosted by the School of Film, Media & Theatre (FMT) at the Rialto Center for the Arts. The night was filled with smiles and great energy as the guest enjoyed their refreshments and posed for photos on the red carpet.
In the movie, a couple purchases an idyllic mountain cabin getaway. They are unaware the deceased owner’s son has no intention of vacating the property. The thriller was full of surprises that kept people on the edge of their seats. It also received rave reviews from the attendees.
After the movie concluded, a Q&A session took place for the viewers along with FMT graduate student and moderator Lucia Gilmartin, Heath Franklin, Director/co-writer, David Schifter, Producer, Brian Kurlander, BILL and Burton Gray, Executive Producer.
The group discussed the subjects of what inspired the movie, the types of film equipment used, and how the special effects were brought together, etc.
Franklin and the FMT are thankful for everyone who attended the event and for everyone who had a hand in making the premiere a successful night.
The Black Balsam movie can be watched on Apple TV, Amazon Prime TV, and other streaming platforms.
