The School of Film, Media and Theatre is proud to announce Dr. Angelo Restivo as its newest Emeritus Professor, a distinguished title conferred by the University President Dr. M. Brian Blake and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Dr. Wendy Hensel
Dr. Restivo’s research and teaching interests focuses on international art cinemas from the postwar to the present, questions surrounding cinematic realism(s), and theories of visuality and the image. His articles and co-authored work have appeared in numerous collections and journals. He is the author of “The Cinema of Economic Miracles: Visuality and Modernization in the Italian Art Film,” Duke UP, 2002, and most recently “Breaking Bad and Cinematic Television,” Duke UP, 2019.
The title “Professor Emeritus” is conferred upon retirement to select nominees who are recognized nationally as having been outstanding in their discipline; and who have made an outstanding contribution to scholarship or the university or both; as well as being held in the respect and esteem of colleagues.
